This document governs access to and use of all Al-Muwaten platforms, content, reports, subscriptions, partnerships, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing or using any part of the Services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
PART I — GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. About Al-Muwaten
Al-Muwaten is an independent media and business-intelligence platform focused on startups, entrepreneurship, and grassroots economic activity in Lebanon and the MENA region, with a global audience including the Lebanese diaspora.

2. Scope & Acceptance
These Terms apply to:
- Website visitors
- Registered users
- Subscribers
- Contributors
- Partners
- Investors
- Institutions accessing reports or data
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services.
3. Eligibility
You confirm that:
- You are 18 years or older
- You have legal capacity under applicable law
- You are authorized to act on behalf of any entity you represent
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, copy, or harvest data without permission
- Reverse-engineer reports, indices, or methodologies
- Misrepresent content or data
- Interfere with platform security or infrastructure
- Use content for unlawful, defamatory, or deceptive purposes
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination.
5. Editorial Disclaimer
All editorial content is provided for informational and journalistic purposes only.
Nothing published by Al-Muwaten constitutes:
- Legal advice
- Financial or investment advice
- Professional consultancy
Users rely on content at their own risk.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, including:
- Articles, reports, and research
- Data sets, indices, metrics, and methodologies
- Branding, logos, design, and UI
is the exclusive intellectual property of Al-Muwaten, unless otherwise stated.
No rights are granted except those explicitly outlined in these Terms.
PART II — PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION (GDPR-COMPLIANT)
7. Data Controller
Al-Muwaten acts as the Data Controller under GDPR and applicable data protection laws.
8. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Art. 6)
We process personal data under the following lawful bases:
- Consent
- Legitimate interest (journalism, research, analytics)
- Contractual necessity
- Legal obligation
9. International Transfers
Data may be processed in Lebanon, the EU, or MENA jurisdictions with safeguards including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- Encryption

10. Data Subject Rights
You have the right to:

PART III — PAID REPORTS & SUBSCRIPTIONS

Paid Services may include:

- Subscriptions

- Custom research
- Institutional dashboards
All pricing and terms are disclosed prior to purchase.
12. License Grant
Upon payment, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for internal use only.
You may not:
- Share or redistribute content
- Publish extracts publicly
- Use content to train AI models
- Create derivative or competing products
13. Payments, Renewals & Refunds
- Fees are payable in advance
- Subscriptions may auto-renew
- Refunds are not provided once access is granted, except where required by law
14. Enforcement
Unauthorized sharing or misuse results in:
- Immediate termination
- Potential legal action
- Claims for damages
PART IV — CONTRIBUTOR AGREEMENT
15. Contributor Definition
A “Contributor” is any individual or entity submitting content, data, interviews, or research materials.
16. Rights & Warranties
Contributors confirm that:
- They own or control all submitted rights
- Content does not infringe third-party rights
- Content complies with applicable laws
17. License to Al-Muwaten
Contributors grant Al-Muwaten a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:
- Publish, edit, translate, and adapt content
- Archive and reuse content
- Incorporate content into reports and datasets
18. Editorial Independence
Al-Muwaten retains full editorial control, including the right to:
- Edit or decline content
- Remove content post-publication
- Update content for accuracy or compliance
19. Compensation
Unless agreed otherwise in writing:
- Contributions are unpaid
- Payment does not imply exclusivity
20. Contributor Liability
Contributors indemnify Al-Muwaten against claims arising from:
- Copyright infringement
- Defamation
- Misrepresentation
PART V — INVESTOR & PARTNER TERMS
21. Nature of Information
Information shared with partners or investors may include:
- Draft or preliminary materials
- Aggregated or anonymized data
- Forward-looking statements
All information is provided “as is.”
22. No Investment Solicitation
Nothing provided by Al-Muwaten constitutes:
- An offer to invest
- A solicitation
- A guarantee of returns
23. Confidentiality & NDAs
Confidential information:
- Must remain confidential
- Must be used only for agreed purposes
- May be governed by separate NDAs
24. Data Usage Restrictions
Partners may not:
- Re-identify anonymized data
- Resell or redistribute datasets
- Claim ownership of indices or methodologies
25. Conflicts of Interest
Al-Muwaten may engage with multiple ecosystem actors.
Editorial independence is maintained unless explicitly disclosed.
PART VI — LIMITATION OF LIABILITY & LEGAL
26. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Al-Muwaten is not liable for:
- Investment decisions
- Business losses
- Reliance on projections or analytics
27. Indemnification
Users agree to indemnify Al-Muwaten against claims arising from:
- Breach of these Terms
- Misuse of Services
- Violation of third-party rights
28. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access at any time for violations or legal necessity.
29. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Lebanese law, supplemented by mandatory EU protections where applicable.
30. Amendments
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
